Johannesburg, South Africa – Following the success of his previous offering, a freestyle titled ‘Six Nine’ which received over 100 000 views within two weeks of its release, Kay-E is proud to present his much anticipated new single titled ‘Ubani’.
Having been out of the game for a while, earlier this year Kay-E dropped his comeback single titled ‘Straight Outta Soweto’ featuring 20 rappers from Soweto, namely Red Button, F-eezy, 985, Bruno, Tumza from GP Gangsta, amongst others. In its first week of release the song debuted at no.3 on the Most Played South African Hip Hop Songs on Slikour On Life, behind Kwesta’s ‘Ngudu’ and Nasty C’s ‘Hell No’. It is also reached no.1 on DJ Speedsta’s YFM Hot 99 Hip Hop chart.
The muso says the inspiration behind his latest single is based on his growth, success and where he comes from as an artist.
“I have matured as a musician, as I have managed to bridge the gap between, Kasi Rap, mainstream Hip Hop and Dancehall/Reggae. With ‘Ubani’ I wanted to bring a universal African sound that almost everyone can relate to.”
Having received the nod from the likes of Bonang Matheba and being ranked 3rd by Hype Magazine as one of the best unsigned artist behind Cassper Nyovest and Andrianto back in 2011, Kay-E has since had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the country’s greatest artists. Some of these include Robbie Malinga, Emtee, PRO, Amu, M.X.O and the late Brown Dash to name a few.
Currently signed to Millionaire Touch Records, Kay-E is working on his album due for release in 2017.
The album will feature artists such as Notshi (Tswa daar), Red Button, Brickz, MadOnDough and a few of some of SA’s biggest artists.
