Muofhe Lavine Mulovhedzi was born in the remote village of Mukula in the Venda region of the Limpopo Province.
Her mother sang in the church choir and her father was a music fanatic. She grew up listening to the likes of Letta Mbulu, Miriam Makeba Brenda Fassie, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and many others.
Lo Tsha is her second album and includes the beautiful and inspiring first single ‘Lo Tsha’. Lo Tsha is A Venda Word for “the sun has risen” or “good morning”.
Lo Tsha is composed of 12 beautiful Afro jazz songs. This afro-soul album has a jazzy feel fusing African soothing and lively sounds.
Her debut album ‘Mysteries Of Love’ showcased Muofhe as a new star and received 5 Tshivenda Music Awards
(TSHIMA) nominations in Categories: Best Female, Best Hit Single, Best Afro Soul, Best New Comer and Song Of The Year.

Muofhe Lavine Mulovhedzi was born in the remote village of Mukula in the Venda region of the Limpopo
Province. Her mother sang in the church choir and her father was a music fanatic. She grew up listening
to the likes of Letta Mbulu, Miriam Makeba Brenda Fassie, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and
Growing up in the mining town of Carletonville, she found herselfin musical competitions and attaining
different awards during her primary and high school years. She was groomed by her arts and
development educators. She was discoveredand persuaded to make her first demo while singing at her
uncle’s wedding in 2002 at the University of Venda main hall, which she took in herstride.
She recorded her first unreleased single ‘The World Smiles Back At Me’ at Bilham Studios in Venda by
Producer Hanedzani Mutele in 2002. Her musical genres changed from one to another over the years but
she found herself settling for what she calls Afro Folk Jazz. She started a band at the age of 18 called
Black Vinol. The band played in a lot of local functions until it eventually broke up due to members’
relocation. After its break up, Muofhe fell in love with the guitar and started learning how to play.
Muofhe moved to the Vaal where she met another guitarist and they formed a band called ‘The Black
Notes’. They played around the local bars, universities and local municipal functions until she decided
upon a solo career. She released her single ‘Ndzhieni’ in early 2014 which has graced the provincial radio
stations . Her debut album ‘Mysteries Of Love’ is a combination of native rhythms with modern afro-soul
soundsin her own mother tongue. In her solo career she is known for her energetic performances and her
soulful sound. Representing her Venda nation , Muofhe has managed to combine Venda traditional
rhythms with contemporary sounds.

Muofhe’s Debut album ‘Mysteries Of Love’ is under the theme of ‘love’. It encompasses all the elements
of love. ‘Mysteries Of Love’ is an album composed of 10 song/tracks. Included in this album is the hit
single ‘Ndzhieni’which has received major airplay in our national radio stations including local and
community radio stations. This album was produced by Mr Hanedzani Mutele through his label, HiNote
Under the theme of love, this album has but captured manywith its soulful and serene sounds. This is an
Afro-Soul album themed under the languages of theLimpopo. With a touch of traditional “malende music’
the title track brings us closer to the rhythms of Venda. The album has had wide coverage on several
national radio stations and local radio stations. It has been reviewed in many local and provincial
newspapers, including national newspaper, Daily Sun. It has received 5 Tshivenda Music Awards
(TSHIMA) nominations in Categories: Best Female, Best Hit Single, Best Afro Soul, Best New Comer
and Song Of The Year. This album has been received very well.
Muofhe has performed in many shows around Limpopo and the Gauteng:

She has also performed at the Cape Town Fringe Festival in 2016
