New Wave Of Amapiano Released By Uk Based Label – Khaya Lyf
Written by africancrest on October 5, 2021
Amapiano has taken the world by storm. The success of the “Amapiano To The World” tour saw dozens of South African Amapiano Artists filling up stadiums and packing out venues in the UK throughout the European Summer. It only seems natural that a new wave of Amapiano would come from the established Diaspora living in the UK flexing their tastemaker skills on the local House and Afro scene.
M.Patrick has been connecting African Artists to the local British Club Scene for decades and he has released many of the market’s House standards through his boutique label, Khaya Lyf. Known as a Deep House and Afro House DJ, M.Patrick has been pushing the Amapiano sound on the dance floors across the UK as well as on his weekly radio show with PieRadio UK.
M.Patrick and Shuza Drums have collaborated on a number of releases over the last couple of years. Shuza Drums, a talented multi genre producer with a number of Afro House and Amapiano releases under his belt, has also produced for legendary South African Afropop icon, Speedy from the band Bongo Maffin. After a chance meeting with a member of the fast rising Six Past Twelve, M.Patrick put the people and the music together giving rise to, what can only be described as, a gem for the Amapiano Catalogues.
Six Past Twelve are an ambitious, determined South African, Afropop, Hip Hop, Amapiano and Dancehall outfit making their mark on the South African Amapiano scene. They have many releases under their belt that can be found on various music platforms.
“Mthebelele” is a track that expresses the joy of growing up and the games kids used to play in the Kasie, when they were young and carefree. Thinking back to the days when as a child, life was smooth and “Mthebelele”, meaning a good life. The song also talks about how we want to “secure the bag” to continue living a life that is Mthebelele.
